Etymologically, the word has no clear origin. There are several hypotheses: the geological nature of the terrain ( shingle or slate quarry ) , fruit cultivation ( enjertal ) or Arabic words meaning rather than springs , but the most popular and widespread cigarral version attributes the term to the abundance of cicadas in these parts during the summer.
The orchard of Toledo has its precedents in Roman villas and above all , in the gardens of Islamic playground where you could enjoy water and vegetation. Already under Christian rule were famous entertainment venues of the propertied classes without losing its agricultural uses. Today an orchard is a property of the immediate environment of Toledo, whose near stone or mud contains farmland and a farmhouse surrounded by gardens, used as a place of leisure and relaxation.
